Nala's kittens at seven weeks — weaning complete and personalities arriving

Seven weeks old, and Nala's five have fully arrived — not just developmentally, but in the fullest, most characterful, most unmistakably Siamese sense of the word. They have found their voices, their opinions, their preferred napping spots, and their particular ways of demanding attention. Nala has been a magnificent mother throughout. But seven weeks is the age at which kittens begin asserting their independence — and all five are doing exactly that.

Seven weeks — a landmark in kitten development
Seven weeks is one of the most significant milestones in early kitten life — and one of the most revealing. If you have been following Nala's litter since birth, the transformation this week will genuinely stop you in your tracks. Here is exactly where all five are right now:
🐾 Weaning is complete — All five are eating solid food independently and enthusiastically. The days of relying solely on Nala are behind them, though she remains a hugely important emotional presence
🐾 Coordination is impressive — The wobbling is entirely gone. Purposeful, increasingly acrobatic kittens who think nothing of climbing whatever is in front of them
🐾 Play is sophisticated and social — Co-ordinated wrestling, deliberate ambushing, chasing and the beginnings of team tactics. Social dynamics within the litter are becoming very clear
🐾 Vocalisation is developing fast — The Siamese voice is already very clearly present. They have things to say and they are saying them with conviction
🐾 Human socialisation is advanced — Daily handling by multiple people, exposure to household sounds and environments, comfortable with new visitors
🐾 Independence is arriving — Spending less time with Nala and more time exploring, playing and engaging with their environment. Exactly what healthy seven-week development looks like.
The socialisation window between three and seven weeks has a profound and lasting effect on temperament. Kittens handled lovingly and exposed to varied stimuli during this period consistently grow into more confident, adaptable and affectionate adults. This is where we invest a significant amount of our time — and it shows in every family's experience on collection day.
Nala's five — a personality profile at seven weeks
Nala's five chocolate points are making absolutely sure that reputation is thoroughly earned. At seven weeks, individual personalities are distinct, consistent and deeply entertaining. Here is who they are:
The bold one
Always first. First through every door, first to investigate anything new, first to voice an opinion about anything she disagrees with.
The thoughtful one
She has already identified the warmest spot in the room and claims it efficiently every single time. She simply chooses her moments.
The affectionate one
The most likely to climb into a lap the moment one presents itself. The most vocal in her demands for attention and contact.
The mischievous one
Boundless energy, a talent for chaos, and an expression of complete innocence that convinces absolutely nobody.
The gentle soul
She is the one who will choose a single person and love them with a devotion that is genuinely breathtaking.
About chocolate point Siamese — for those discovering the breed
Nala is a chocolate point Siamese, and her kittens carry that beautiful warm colouring — pale ivory bodies with rich chocolate brown points on face, ears, paws and tail. It is one of the four classic Siamese colourings alongside seal, blue and lilac.
What many people do not realise is that personality is largely consistent across all four colours. The Siamese temperament — intelligent, vocal, intensely people-oriented, deeply affectionate and occasionally completely outrageous — belongs to the breed, not the colour. Whether you are drawn to the dramatic contrast of a seal point or the warmth of a chocolate, you are getting the same extraordinary character.
